Mexicali Protein Burger are the bomb

Want a go to, to win over every outdoor BBQ this summer? Try this Mexicali Protein Burger.

Ingredients

  • Burger Meat
  • Cheese
  • Taco Seasoning
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Iceberg or romaine lettuce
  • Scallions
  • Chiles
  • Avocado
  • Red Onion

Recipe:

Ad marinara to a pot and use 1/4-1/2 small bag of taco seasoning, about two Tablespoons per cup of marinara. – this will make you sauce – think ketchup or secret sauce. 

Chop red onions and chilies – (Red Peppers and Pasillias are a great combo) and saute’ them together.

Grill the meat add cheese if you’d like. (Cotija cheese or a mixed Mexican blend works really well).

Grill a few scallions, shishto peppers and smush an avocado for toppings. 

Slide it into a lettuce wrap or a bun if you are eating carbs that week and I promise your burger will make you the star of your summer BBQ.
